Welcome to PolarPol

By Daniela Portella Sampaio

PolarPol is a research website that brings together the social science developed across my academic and policy work. It provides access to publications, invited talks and media contributions, ongoing research projects, and selected data visualisation outputs related to polar governance.

I am a two-time Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow who has been researching polar governance since 2011. My work takes an interdisciplinary approach, bridging political sociology and governance studies through a strong foundation in qualitative and mixed methods. Valuing theory and practice equally, I have been working within diplomatic meetings for more than a decade. This has given me a unique vantage point to examine the complexities of environmental governance in both the Antarctic and Arctic regions.
